Cecil County Court Comparison

Cecil County Court Directions
The primary courthouse sits on East Main Street in downtown Elkton. The District Court page gives a concrete Elkton approach: take I-95 to Exit 109-A toward Elkton, proceed onto Route 279, turn left at the third traffic light onto Route 213/Bridge Street, follow Route 213 to the fourth traffic light at Main Street, turn left, and after the next traffic light the District Court is on the right. The Circuit Courthouse is nearby on East Main Street, so the same downtown approach places visitors in the right court area.
Security at the Circuit Courthouse is handled by the Cecil County Sheriff's Office with Circuit Court bailiffs. Everyone entering is subject to search of person and belongings. Visitors pass through metal detectors and an X-ray machine, empty pockets into a container, and place overcoats, purses, briefcases, backpacks, and parcels on the X-ray belt. If an alarm occurs, a person may be wanded or belongings may be physically searched. Security personnel do not hold items.
Prohibited items include weapons, firearms, ammunition, explosives, cutting instruments such as knives, scissors, box cutters, work tools, handcuff keys, knitting needles, pepper spray, mace, other chemical sprays, alcohol, illegal substances, and illegal drugs. Food and drinks are prohibited in courtrooms, and courtroom attire rules bar shorts, tank tops, and beachwear.
